Leggiamo e riascoltiamo insieme le #autricidimenticate proposte dagli ospiti della #PodcastFest vol. 2 del 28 aprile. Colin Dardis, poeta e sound artist nordirlandese, ci presenta Nora Hopper Chesson (1871-1906), poeta e giornalista inglese. Le scarne notizie biografiche che si hanno di lei ne riportano la precocità (non aveva ancora 17 anni quando fu pubblicata la sua prima poesia sul settimanale The Family Herald), la prolificità e l’attenzione che la sua raccolta di prose e poesie Ballads in prose (1894) suscitò in William Butler Yeats, che ne rilevò l’influenza di Katharine Tynan.
Life outside
Life stands and cries outside my door,
A homeless beggar-maid
That casts no shadow on the floor;
To bid her cross my threshold o’er
Almost I am afraid.
Almost I think I know her eyes:
I stand, a grudging host,
And wait and wonder and surmise,
While Life outside my window cries,
