Le Ortique ovvero del canone deformato
PREMESSA
Schiacciate dalla storia, dal corso incontrollato degli eventi, dall’affermarsi dei canoni e dall’accentramento dei poteri costituiti, molte artiste donne non sono riuscite a essere realmente protagoniste del loro tempo. Il nostro gruppo si propone di ripensare proprio a loro. Di ripensare a tutte quelle protagoniste mancate – artiste, scrittrici, poete – che per diverse ragioni non sono riuscite a vivere e sopravvivere al loro tempo. Siamo consapevoli infatti che le loro visioni, il loro immaginario, la loro poetica risuonino ancora di significato e sarebbe davvero imperdonabile dimenticarle nel silenzio degli archivi, lasciandole ancora una volta senza volto e senza voce.
CHI SIAMO/ MISSIONE
Viviana Fiorentino pensa da qualche tempo a un collettivo che si occupi di autrici quando, nell’autunno del 2017, condivide questa idea con Alessandra Trevisan. Nei due anni successivi, le due invitano altre autrici e studiose, con vari interessi. Il gruppo si riunisce nei mesi della prima ondata pandemica e il blog viene fondato a giugno 2020.
Fin da allora, la nostra missione è quella di riunirsi per approfondire, creare, ricercare, discutere. Abbiamo esperienze di vita, di studio e background differenti. Non abbiamo un’etichetta di appartenenza né una scuola di riferimento; ognuna di noi viene da luoghi diversi e ha sperimentato l’attivismo in letteratura o in altro ambito senza mai partecipare a un collettivo di artiste come quello odierno. Ci unisce il credere che siano molte le voci delle artiste donne dimenticate che meritino uno spazio e un’occasione di approfondimento. Troppo spesso, voci autorevoli e di pregio sono state soppresse, silenziate, isolate, messe a tacere, imperdonabilmente consegnate all’oblio. La nostra missione vuole essere questa: dare loro una seconda possibilità di vita, una seconda voce. Il nostro intento è quello di divulgare e comunicare senza rinunciare all’essenzialità della parola. Ecco cosa faremo: proporremo interviste a artist*, studios*, archivist*, attivist*; tradurremo poete mai tradotte e scrittrici di diversi paesi; realizzeremo dei podcast e dei video; creeremo delle canzoni e delle opere d’arte visiva; lanceremo eventi, open mic, happening, occasioni d’incontro aperte a tutti.

Le Ortique or of the deformed canon
Squashed by history, by the random course of events, by the affirmation of canons and the centralization of established powers, many women artists have failed to be truly protagonists of their time. Our group wants to rethink to them. To rethink to all those missed women protagonists – artists, writers, poets – who have failed for different reasons to live and survive their time. We are aware that their visions, their imagery, their poetics still resonate with meaning and it would be unforgivable to forget them in the silence of the archives, leaving them once again without a face and without a voice.
WHO WE ARE/ MISSION
For some time Viviana Fiorentino would have liked to found a collective researching past female authors and forgotten texts. In autumn 2017, she shared the idea with Alessandra Trevisan. Over the next two years, they involved fellow authors and scholars with various interests to be involved. The group met in the months of the first pandemic wave and the blog was founded in June 2020.
From that time on, we gather to study, create, research, discuss. We have different backgrounds, in terms of studies and life experiences. We do not have labels, we do not belong, we do not have a school of reference; each of us comes from different places and has experienced activism in literature or in other areas without participating in a collective of artists such this one. We are united by the belief that there are many voices of forgotten women artists who deserve space and an opportunity for further studies. Too often, eminent and valuable voices have been suppressed, silenced, isolated, unforgivably delivered to oblivion. Our mission is this one: to give them a second chance of life, a second voice. Our intent is to divulge and communicate without giving away the essentiality of the word. Here’s what we’ll do: we’ll propose interviews to artists, scholars, archivists, activists; we’ll translate poets never translated before and writers from different countries; we’ll make podcasts and videos; we’ll create songs and visual art works; we’ll launch events, open mic, happenings, meeting opportunities open to everyone.
